One of my favorite things about this place is (like me) everybody LOVES to eat. On that note, because the show is oh so fabulous, we get tons of food deliveries weekly, which is very difficult to ignore. Especially last week being Valentine's Day and all, we got tons of delicious goodies which I just had to dig into (Thanks Crumbs and Georgetown Cupcakes!) An important rule I've learned is: don't be on a diet if you're going to be at the studio; very few can withstand the power of free sweets and goodies.

Last week I hit a new milestone: I got Top of the Charts down packed (finally,) and I can do an air check in no time. I also met a guy! Yes fellas, Jana Kaplan is finally off the market. On Wednesday, I fell madly in love with the six foot Vermont teddy bear. He's a bit of a man whore around the office, but he's everything I need in a man: tall, dark, and cuddly. I could literally fall asleep in his arms; what else could a girl ask for in a boyfriend?

Speaking of furry friends, Elvis' dog Max finally came in on a day other than Tuesday, and we had a nice kissie session. I also got to meet Uncle Johnny! It was about damn time; and yes, he really is bananas.

Once again, it's never a dull moment at the Morning Show. TJ announced that he would be leaving us for HIS OWN SHOW in Boston, which is totally exciting and he 150% deserves it. However, there will definitely be tears on Friday when he leaves us. Elvis couldn't have said it better when he said that this company is like a family, and I truly am honored and grateful to be a part of it, even if it is a small part.

As I watch the Grammys, and blog (check me out at entertainmentessentials.wordpress.com,) and enjoy my glass of…JUICE, I should stop and tell you about all the fabulous things I do at once at this internship.

Not only am I now able to listen to the show while it’s on the air and pick up callers to put through, but I can also answer an email and text or Tweet ALL AT ONCE! Not to toot my own horn, but it really is incredible to see how versatile I’ve become.

I should also mention that last week Fall Out Boy came in the studio, and we all totally fan girled it (some of us more than others, cough cough CARLA MARIE!) But after I spoke with them, put my arms around Patrick Stump in a picture, and waved them goodbye, I realized that celebrities really are like any other people. When they first come in the studio, your heart stops a little, but once you start talking to them, you realize how down to earth they really are. So to all the fan girls out there: give celebrities a break. They want to be your friend, so give them a little breathing room and just act normal around them.

Speaking of normal, as FOB left, the absolutely gorgeous Kat Graham dropped in and came with me on a little trip to the bathroom. After I toured her around and we’re sitting down to pee, she whispers between the stalls, “Nothing spells out friendship like hearing another girl pee,” and I thought, Girl, we are new besties! And so a new friendship was born.

And to make my week that more amazing, I got a cameo in the Morning Show ladies' spoof of "Girls!" It was definitely the highlight of my internship, thus far.

I hate to be a broken record, but this is THE MOST WONDERFUL PLACE ON EARTH! No seriously, it’s better than Disney World, and I am so proud and grateful to have this internship to call the first (and hopefully last) stop in my journalism career. You don’t realize how productive you can be until you wake up at three and finish a whole day’s work before noon. My suggestion: set an alarm (preferably the Elvis Duran Show on iHeart Radio,) and take full advantage of your day…everyday. Enough with the philosophical thoughts, go enjoy the Grammys! Hello hello!

It’s Vanessa again and I’m here to talk more about my intern life at the morning show. 

Today I witnessed some Elvis Duran and the Morning Show history as TJ announced that he will be leaving the show in two weeks to pursue his dreams and host his own morning radio show in Boston.  As I found myself getting sad, as well as the fan inside me get upset, I realized that I couldn’t be happier for TJ.  From my very first day of my internship TJ has always remembered my name, complimented me when I did something correctly, and has made my experience here that much greater.  Although I only met TJ a few weeks ago, I feel like I’ve known him forever from all the years I’ve been listening and he will truly be missed.

With that being said, my voice made its first radio appearance a little over a week ago and boy oh boy did I sound stupid.  The topic that was being discussed was how some ladies are a little bit crazy and some even plan their entire wedding – without even having a boyfriend!  I used to intern at a bridal store and now I currently work at another on the side, and while it’s not the profession I want to pursue, I got a knack for wedding dresses and might as well put it to use.

Anyways, I mentioned a story to Carla Marie as the topic was dying down, she thought it was funny, told Brody, and before I knew it, Elvis was asking for ‘Intern Vanessa’ to come into the room.  Now, I am not one to get nervous or freeze up, but I was taken very off guard because I wasn’t expecting to get on air.  I must’ve been as red as a tomato, but managed to work a sentence out of my mouth and sound SOMEWHAT decent.  But then something happened that I could only describe as a ‘blackout,’ where TJ started to speak and I didn’t hear a word he said even though I was staring directly at him. My response to what he said? “[3 second pause] …Oh.” NOT SO GOOD!

Luckily everyone was so great and turned the conversation around quickly and I sat there thoroughly embarrassed mumbling into the microphone like an idiot.  But now I’m ready for anything! Next time (if there is a next time) that I get on air I will have responses up the wazoo racked up in my brain and maybe speak MORE than a sentence (WATCH OUT)!

The only good thing to come out of my 30 seconds on air is that I got to be on air with TJ, which I probably won’t get the chance to do again, and I’m happy I was so lucky to be able to experience that.

It's Karoline here! Yes my name is with a K and not C…that’s not the only weird thing I got going for me either. (Yes I have heard of the song ‘Sweet Karoline’ and ‘Roses’ by Outkast. You would think people would stop asking me knowing how much I like music). I started as a night show intern with Mo’ Bounce and now I am fortunate enough to be on the morning show! I still wonder why they would have asked a loud mouth like me back, but I grow on people in the uncomfortable kind of way.
 
Working for the Elvis Duran morning show is a complete dream come true. Nothing gets me as happy as radio does. I look forward to the next time I have to go to work and that's how its supposed to be, because for me it isn’t really work its just fun. Now finally being here I have found so many people I look up to. Everyone is genuine, down to earth, and will do anything to help you. Bethany and I always joke that we are connected like sisters! Not to mention Danielle is the coolest and hottest mom ever! I could go on for days about the rest of the members.

I’ve had the opportunity to also meet awesome people! I think the one that hit home for me was Fall Out Boy who came in recently. This was a band I listened to when I was younger with my friends back at home in Middle School. Not only do I enjoy them as a band but I feel like they shared a piece of my childhood with me that I haven’t felt with any other artist before! It made me stop for a second and realize how truly grateful I am to be here and I don’t ever want to leave! (Might have to call security when my internship is up…).

As a side note, today TJ announced he is leaving from the show and he is just yet another inspiration to me. I hope to always pursue my dreams just like him. Love you!!

Back for my LAST INTERNSHIP!

I couldn’t be any happier spending my last semester as a senior at the Elvis Duran Morning Show. Some may know I interned here last year and loved everything about it. And now I’M BACK! I work along side Web Girl Kathleen who is possibly the BEST intern ‘advisor.’ It’s only been a month and I’ve learned so much and I get to do what I do best- find the scoop on celebrity gossip. Also, keep an eye out for the graphics on the site, could be my own work! The morning show helps me gain experience doing everything I want to do: graphic design, video editting, and entertainment news! Here's a pic of some of the web crew here at the morning show!

So here's a quick recap of the past few weeks. My first day back Greg T couldn’t remember my name and kept calling me Christa… which I am SO NOT a Christa. About a month ago I met Bobbi Brown, who has the BEST cosmetics. She was so sweet and friendly, and I couldn’t be more excited to know she’s going to be the beauty expert on the show. I can definitely trust her tips and how-to’s. Then…a few weeks ago Austin Mahone was in the studio. What a little cutie! No wonder there were 80 bizillion teenage girls in the lobby that day! 

Thennnn, we got a huge load of food delivered to the studio from The Palm restaurant. Chicken park, steak, salads, chips, fried onions, and pasta galore. Oh my gosh, it was delicious! It would be so bad if I was here 5 days a week… I would definitely gain weight like crazy!!

Anyway, I will be updating my blog posts more often, and hopefully get to do some vlogs too! Till next time guys!
